One fled there, chased by real and imaginary enemies. The other was pursued by a degenerative disease and by himself. One had started from the East of the South, and the other from the West of the North.

They believed they would live alone until they discovered each other on a small uninhabited island: one in the Aegean, the other in Eastern Europe.

In their diaries, they describe their differences and the war they started over rights on the deserted island "Island." Their war involved televisions, governments, fleets, the forces of nature, and the skeletons of unknown ancient warriors.

It was, as increasingly often happens, a war without declaration and without end.
