Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening is an expansion that offers a brand new area of the world to explore, known as Amaranthine, with an epic story that allows players to uncover the secrets of the darkspawn and their true motives. Players will face a variety of terrifying creatures, including an advanced, intelligent type of darkspawn and other threatening beings such as the Inferno Golem and the Spectral Dragon.

Includes exciting new ways for players to customize their heroes and their party, such as the ability to revise their character's attributes. Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening features a higher level cap, new spells, abilities, specializations, and items, as well as five entirely new party members. Players can continue their adventures from Dragon Age or start with a new team.

The story takes place after the events of Dragon Age: Origins, placing players in the role of a Grey Warden Commander tasked with rebuilding the Grey Wardens order. Players will be tasked with uncovering the mystery of how the darkspawn survive after the destruction of the Archdemon dragon. The decisions they make regarding rebuilding their order, resolving the conflict with the mysterious Architect, and their decisive stance towards the darkspawn are just some of the moral choices that will shape their heroic journey. Players will have the option to import their character from Dragon Age: Origins or start as a new Grey Warden from the neighboring land of Orlais.
