What are the cognitive disorders in Parkinson's disease? Parkinson's disease is a common neurodegenerative disorder that is currently considered the fastest-growing neurological disease worldwide. One of its most serious non-motor symptoms is the decline of cognitive functions. The condition can range from early subjective cognitive decline to dementia and affects various parameters of daily life and ultimately the quality of life of patients.
The 73 participants in the volume are specialized scientists who thoroughly examine various fields of cognitive decline in the disease. Epidemiology, neuropsychology, phenotypes, diagnosis (biomarkers, neuroimaging), and the pathophysiological substrate are some of the topics analyzed. Additionally, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments are examined, and the parameters of bioethics and social issues concerning patients are raised.
The multifaceted approach to the subject contributes to the further deepening of specialists but also serves a broader audience interested in neuroscience and the function and dysfunction of the brain. The knowledge and opinions presented compose a holistic canvas of the topic of cognition in Parkinson's disease and open pathways for the best possible care and support of Parkinson's patients.
