Description

The question "what is democracy" becomes more relevant today than ever before. Firstly, because the concept has been brutally distorted in terms of its content and historical existence. Secondly, because the world of our time has entered a transitional phase during which democracy will become an imperative necessity for social interest to be reinstated as a principle in political life.

The present work deals with the concept, prerequisites, and timing of democracy to demonstrate that it was not a matter of one and a half centuries, but a historical experience of Hellenism from the 5th century BC to the outskirts of the 20th century.

Why did modernity reject democracy and end up defining democracy as an elective monarchy, which does not even meet the conditions of representation? How were societies convinced that they live in the time of democracy and that the alternative choice is authoritarian deviation?

In the pages of the book, democracy is examined in parable with related concepts such as elective monarchy, representation, freedom, equality, justice, oligarchy, anarchy, tyranny, the nation, and international relations to reveal the intellectual deception of modernity at the expense of scientific knowledge. The reader will realize that democracy is not a product of imagination or utopia, but a natural phenomenon destined to follow elective monarchy and representation in search of a balance between "capital" and society.

The technology of communication will, in this case, serve as the ground for building democracy, that is, the new Pnyx, where civil society will be institutionalized as a municipality of the state.
