Its scent is pleasant and lasts for a short while, so I don't think it will bother anyone. It stays nice on my face until noon and I have no negative issues. As for the protection, I don't know, but as long as I'm in the city, it protects me as it should... I will definitely buy it again and I recommend it..!!
