Pokémon™ Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch™ 2 Edition features improved performance, enhanced resolution, and smoother framerates — which means that Lumiose City is now more vibrant than ever!

Step onto the battlefield and command your Pokémon directly — there are no turns! For the first time in the Pokémon RPG series, Trainers and their Pokémon can move in real time during battles, and Pokémon perform their moves when you ask them to. Strategically switching your Pokémon, along with the right timing and area of effect for each move, will greatly help you in this new battle style.

Harness the power of Mega Evolution

When Trainers have a strong bond with their Pokémon, a Key Stone worn by the Trainers resonates with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, allowing the activation of Mega Evolution.

Arbitrary Mega Evolution (Rogue Mega Evolution)

Wild Mega-Evolved Pokémon are spreading terror in Lumiose City. These Pokémon are particularly difficult to defeat, but if you succeed, you will receive valuable Mega Stones as a reward.

I speak as a big Pokémon fan, from Red Blue, until now. We are in 2026 now and Nintendo isn't even trying. You pay for a legendary brand for animations, art, ideas that are 15 years behind. A very expensive and repetitive title that they market as an innovative battle system. After the story, which is repetitive, there is nothing to do unless you pay for the DLC. Obviously, I wouldn't recommend it, just like any Pokémon after Heart Gold and Soul Silver. It's really a shame.

I rate it as a Pokemon game on Switch2. And not as a 2025 game that costs 60-70 euros (in that case my rating would be lower).
I am a casual Pokémon fan, meaning I used to play the first generation games on Game Boy when I was younger, and on Switch 1 I played Arceus and Pikachu.
The game is very good, it keeps you engaged like all Pokemon games if you are a fan, and the new battle system also seems excellent to me. It has a very nice concept with lots of battles and a compact map (which for me is a positive). I haven't dealt with the online part yet but it looks interesting.
The hours go by easily and generally it is relaxing.

I recommend it for Pokemon fans but also for anyone who wants to enter the world of Pokemon, keeping in mind that you will have to make some compromises in graphics.

P.S. We've gone gray and they still haven't added voices to the dialogues over at Pokemon.

As a game, it's good, but if you don't like Real-Time Combat compared to the traditional Turn-Based Combat that the mainline Pokémon games have (like me), some battles will get on your nerves. Other than that, it's a good game.

If the word 'legends' wasn't in the title, I would say it's amazing, but since it is in some way a sequel, then many elements that made the first one perfect are missing and this one is just decent. Ideally, it should have more features and also the DLC content should be part of the cartridge. The price for the complete experience is double compared to the previous one.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is a pleasant surprise and definitely stands out from the classic Pokémon games. The changes made to the gameplay and especially the battle system offer a fresh experience, which I personally found very interesting. I have dedicated several hours to the game and managed to complete it, so I can say that it really kept me engaged.

Its biggest drawback, however, is the price. Nintendo has now increased the cost of games for the Nintendo Switch 2 and this is clearly evident. The same applies to the upcoming DLC, which is also expensive.

Despite the high cost, the game remains a quality and interesting experience for those who want something different from the world of Pokémon.

The change in the battle system is interesting, however the city is only one and relatively small. Lost features like surf, for example, and few legendaries.

Having played up to Pokémon Platinum and then playing Violet, Legends Z-A was a nice change from the main game series. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan and wants something a little different as the battle mechanic is different from the main series.
