In the board game Gangs Of Kyoto, players take on the role of cats exploring the city. The cats satisfy their curiosity about what lies behind the walls of their garden. As the cards are investigated, players discover food, friends, and special gifts. However, they must be careful not to stay out too late, as there is a risk of getting lost in the streets of Kyoto.
The goal of the game is simple: to be the first to gather 13 bells before the others. The game cards represent bells, clever little powers, or nothing at all, with numerical values ranging from 0 to 5.
During their turn, the active player deals the cards one by one to the players around the table, including themselves. Each card adds to the value of the previous one taken in another turn, and once a player reaches or exceeds 13, the turn ends, "jumping," and allowing the other players to "save" all their bell cards.
