Nutmeg (also known in Indonesia as pala) is one of the two spices derived from various species of trees in the genus Myristica. The most commercially important species is the fragrant nutmeg (Myristica fragrans), an evergreen tree native to the Banda Islands in the Moluccas of Indonesia.
