Description

Anti-fascism is deceptive and vulnerable when limited to defense and does not aim to eliminate capitalism itself.
Daniel Gerens adopts a comparative model to identify the main trends of fascism (and consequently Nazism) and then analyzes them case by case in Italy and Germany before, during, and after the seizure of power. He examines the origins of the movement, its ranks, and the mysticism that inspired them; its aggressive tactics against the corresponding apathy of the labor movement; its anti-worker actions and its economic and agricultural policies; the role of the "plebeians"; and the position of the middle classes. In this way, he dismantles the anti-capitalist illusions cultivated by fascism itself, showing that its actions primarily benefit capital.
The book "Fascism and Big Capital" was first published in 1936, has been supplemented and enriched over time, and is now not only a classic but also extremely relevant.
An essential read in a time when the Far Right, obscurantism, and racism are spreading their dark veil over the planet, against the backdrop of social despair and environmental collapse caused by capitalism. (From the back cover presentation of the book)
