The button child lives in a distant land called Rapti. There, the Scissors, the Threads, the Thimbles, and many families of Buttons live happily and harmoniously. However, the button child has a peculiarity in its construction that makes it different from the other buttons. This difference renders it "useless," and the other buttons bully it. But it does not give up. It leaves its country and desperately seeks a place where it will be useful.

It travels to many countries, meets many buttons with different uses, and this gives it the courage to continue...
