The RTC module is designed specifically for Raspberry Pi. It communicates with the Raspberry Pi via the I2C interface. The board includes the Maxim DS1307 and a CR1220 coin cell battery that keeps track of the real time for an extended period even when the Raspberry Pi is powered off.
