The Cort G280 Select Amber is a six-string solid-body electric guitar with a double cutaway, designed as the flagship of the G series to meet modern playing demands. The body is made of solid alder with a flamed maple top in a glossy Amber finish. It features a bolt-on neck made of Canadian hard maple and a rosewood fingerboard with a compound radius and 22 frets. Its sound system is based on an HSS pickup configuration with the Cort Voiced Tone VTS-63 and VGH-59 pickup set, delivering a wide frequency range from traditional vintage tones to modern high-gain sounds. The support and vibrato system is completed by the Cort CFA-III two-point tremolo bridge with a stainless-steel block and Cort Staggered Locking tuning machines.

Alder Body Construction & Flamed Maple Top

The body combines solid alder (Alder) as its primary acoustic platform with a top made from select flamed maple (Flamed Maple Top). Alder provides a warm, full, and well-balanced response across the frequency spectrum, with clearly defined mids, while the maple top adds tonal clarity and a fast attack. The G series’ double-cutaway design features ergonomic front and back contours for comfortable contact with the musician’s body, as well as asymmetrical sculpting around the neck joint for unrestricted access to the higher frets. The glossy Amber finish highlights the maple’s natural grain and protects the wood from surface wear.

Maple Neck & Compound-Radius Rosewood Fingerboard

The neck is made from Canadian Hard Maple with a satin finish on the back, providing structural rigidity and smooth, friction-free hand movement. The Rosewood fingerboard features a variable compound radius (12"–15.75"). This design provides a more rounded curvature at the lower frets for stable, comfortable chord fingering, gradually flattening at the higher frets to make solos and clean bends easier without fret buzz. It has 22 frets and a 25.5" (648 mm) scale length, while the 42 mm Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut ensures smooth string movement.

Voiced Tone HSS Electronics & CFA-III Hardware System

The electrical system features an HSS configuration with a specially calibrated set of Cort Voiced Tone pickups. The VGH-59 humbucker at the bridge delivers powerful output with a full-bodied sound for overdriven rhythm and solo parts, while the VTS-63 single-coils produce a classic, crisp and clear tone with rich dynamic response. The 5-way selector offers versatile combinations for a wide range of musical styles. The tremolo system is based on the 2-point Cort CFA-III Tremolo, built with stainless steel saddles, plate and block for optimized vibration transfer and increased sustain. Combined with the Cort Staggered Locking tuners, it ensures stable tuning and fast string changes.
