Eucalyptus essential oil is used as a decongestant, antipyretic, expectorant, and bronchodilator through inhalation of warm steam. Its effect on the skin is cooling and antiseptic, and it is effective in treating warts, pimples, head lice, and simple herpes with compresses or applications.

Proper dilution is important depending on the use:

• For compresses, 2 ml oil in 100 ml water, for inflammations, painful joints, and burns.
• For gargles, dissolve 5 drops of essential oil in a glass of water.
• For chest rubs, 0.5-2 ml oil in 25 ml almond oil for colds, asthma, and flu.
• For massage, 20 drops eucalyptus oil and 10-20 drops rosemary oil in 20 ml almond oil for rheumatic or arthritic pains.

Adhering to the recommended proportions is necessary as a larger amount of eucalyptus oil can irritate the kidneys.
