On the walls of the basement were written incomprehensible verses and strange symbols… Approaching the Tsar, Yurovsky said to him: "Your relatives tried to save you but failed. Now we will kill you!" He immediately shot his unarmed victim, thus giving the others the signal for the mass slaughter. Cries of terror followed from the victims, but they were drowned out by the sounds of murderous gunfire. The Tsar, the Empress, and their three eldest daughters were killed instantly. Little Alexei had slipped from his father's dead hands and lay wounded on the floor in a pool of blood, crying. Yurovsky approached and emptied his revolver by shooting at the child's body until he died. Only then did the little one's crying cease. Grand Duchess Anastasia and the cook Demidova had fallen wounded to the floor and struggled with their executioners who mercilessly stabbed them until they died…

Then the bodies were desecrated and the valuables were given to Yurovsky, who acted on Moscow's orders. …The most brutal crime of the century was followed by the most cynical deception of persistent denial. The Moscow Soviet, realizing belatedly the magnitude of the mass slaughter crime, spread rumors that the members of the Imperial family were alive. It claimed that the rumors speaking of a ritual slaughter in a basement were fabrications. It knew well that no one could justify the slaughter of an entire family with five children. As part of this whole cover-up orgy, it did not hesitate to send, at regular intervals, letters to the Tsar's mother, which were supposedly written by him…

…The summary execution of Tsar Nicholas II in a corner of his empire was a shocking event. And it happened exactly on the day when the fortunes of war favored his ally France and even more so, exactly t.
