Crossocheilus siamensis, also known as the Siamese algae eater or SAE, is a freshwater fish from the Cyprinidae family. This fish originates from the Malay Peninsula and moves in the lower layers of the aquarium. In the wild, it lives in streams and rivers, feeding on algae, seaweed, and phytoplankton.
The SAE has the following characteristics:
- Slender, elongated body in a silver-beige shade.
- Distinct, horizontal black stripe on each side running the entire length.
- The stripe extends to the edge of the tail fin, which is almost transparent.
- Transparent fins and clearly visible small barbels on the snout.
