Heller: STARTER KIT La Grande Hermine in 1:150 scale
The La Grande Hermine is a French carrack with three masts from the early 16th century. It was the ship on which the famous explorer Jacques Cartier set sail on June 15, 1535, to the Saint-Pierre islands near Newfoundland. The La Grande Hermine was also used by Cartier to explore the mouth of the Saint Lawrence River and to discover its existence for Europeans.
It is believed that the image of this ship is depicted on the current flag of the dependent territory of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. The original vessel did not survive to our time, but in 1967 a replica was built for the Montreal World's Fair. During this exhibition, as well as for the next 30 years, it operated as a floating restaurant. Unfortunately, it is now abandoned.
