The movie "MY BELOVED SMYRNA", based on the eponymous play by MIMIS DENISI, is a high-budget production with an international cast, the largest in the history of Greek cinema, honoring the culture of Ionia.

The story revolves around Filio Williams, an elderly Greek-American woman, who rushes to Mytilene with her granddaughter to support the Syrian refugees. Nobody knows her origins, nor that her Smyrniot grandmother once found herself on the same island, persecuted and as a refugee.

The notebook with the recipes of her namesake grandmother Filio unfolds the tumultuous history of the cosmopolitan Baltatzis family, shaped by the tragic international events that determined the fate of entire nations. Different generations of women from the same family come together in space and time, through the threads of history. Present and past become one.
