In the modern energy market, energy purchase agreements from RES (Renewable Energy Sources) PPAs are one of the most critical tools for effectively pursuing green transition goals.
In the absence of legal standardization of RES PPAs, it was deemed necessary to systematize their analysis. To this end, in this collective work, 18 distinguished Greek lawyers, engineers, and economists analyze specific issues related to these contracts and answer questions such as:
- What are RES PPAs and how are the different types of these contracts systematically classified?
- What is their practical significance for the modern energy market and what are the prospects for the future?
- What regulatory and business risks arise and how are they addressed?
- What is the current regulatory framework and what do the national regulatory authority and RAE (Regulatory Authority for Energy) do?
- How do RES PPAs function within the context of the energy market's trading organization?
- How are RES PPAs functionally distinguished from other contractual activities?
- How are disputes arising in these contracts resolved?
- What tax issues arise?
For the first time in Greek literature, the above issues are analyzed systematically, along with many others. The purpose of all contributors to this project is not only the doctrinal treatment of RES PPAs but also contributing to familiarization with their operation, so as to effectively support the work of those engaged practically with these contracts.
