Traditional Greek wooden flute, made from reed. It features six holes and is in the key of A. The thiambóli or syráuli is a flute-like instrument with an open bottom end. The top end is cut at an angle and closed with a plug that leaves only a thin slit. It has a rectangular hole through which air passes and produces the whistling sound.

It is commonly found in the Aegean islands and Crete, as well as in some cases in Macedonia and Thrace. Known by various names, such as pithkiavli in Cyprus or sfiroxámpio in Crete. It is usually made from reed, though less frequently from wood or metal. The syráuli belongs to those instruments that are often handcrafted by the player and can be played alone or accompanied by a leather percussion instrument, such as the toumbi (Naxos and Crete).
