The Trojan War has begun, with two opposing sides seeking every advantage. Two heroes — Hector of Troy and Achilles of the Greeks — seek the support of the gods to determine the outcome of the battle. Only one side will emerge victorious, with its hero becoming a legend of the Iliad.
Iliad is a tile-placement strategy game for two players, designed by Reiner Knizia. Players choose one of two tiles from their hand and place it on the board, next to an opponent's tile. Both players have symmetrical sets of tiles, with strength from 1 to 5, as well as the Dolos tile, which mimics the adjacent tiles of the opponent.
Victory depends on the strategy of where and when the tiles are used. When a row or column is filled, the player with the highest total strength in that line gains the right to choose one of the two success tiles located at the ends of the row or column, while the other goes to the opponent. The success tiles bring the favor of the Gods and influence the direction of the game.
