The Meross 1987911 standalone smoke detector uses a photoelectric sensor for smoke and an electrochemical sensor for carbon monoxide. It detects fast- and slow-burning fires. If it detects smoke and CO at the same time, it sounds the smoke alarm first, followed by the CO alarm. The alarm exceeds 85 dB and, at a CO concentration of 300 ppm, activates in less than 3 minutes.

It is powered by a built-in, non-replaceable 3 V CR123A lithium battery and has a three-colour LED: green for standby, orange for low battery or a fault, and red for an alarm or test. The button is used to test or silence the alarm. The package includes a mounting bracket, screw set and user manual.
