This product concerns the bi-metallic relays used on many motorcycles. Their flashing rate depends on the current flowing through the circuit. When replacing a relay, the current may change, which can also affect the flashing rate.
If electronic relays are used, the flashing rate is not affected by the current, so the flashing pattern will remain unchanged. If you are unsure which relay your motorcycle uses, we recommend checking the operating frequency of the turn signals.
It is important to take the power rating of the turn signal bulb into account. If it needs to be replaced, choose a bulb with the same power rating, available in the catalogue.
If an LED bulb is used, the following options are available to balance the flashing rate:
- Install a resistor in parallel on both the right and left sides of the circuit. If all four turn signals are replaced, resistor Ref. 42980 is required. For the replacement of two turn signals, use resistor Ref. 58730.
- Identify the motorcycle’s flasher relay and replace it with the appropriate one from the Puig catalogue.
Please note that some motorcycles do not have a dedicated relay, making replacement impossible. If more than one relay is involved in the flashing function, replacing only one will not solve the problem.
