Application & Performance

The synthetic absorbable surgical suture PGA is chosen for use depending on the patient's condition, the size of the wound and tissues, and the surgical experience and technique. After implantation, a moderate local tissue inflammation occurs, characteristic of the foreign body reaction, followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture in fibrous connective tissue. Subsequently, there is a gradual loss of strength and mass of the suture due to its absorption through hydrolysis, during which the polymer breaks down into glycolic acid, which is absorbed and metabolized from body to body.

Advantages:

  • Smooth passage through tissue
  • High knot tensile strength
  • Knot security
  • Minimal tissue reaction
  • Flexibility and easy handling
  • High tensile strength and reliability
  • No need for removal session
  • Almost zero material memory
  • Complete biocompatibility

Typical uses:

  • General Surgery (epidermal, subdermal)
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Orthopedic
  • Gynecology & Obstetric Surgery
  • Gastroenterology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Urology
  • Plastic Surgery
