GPS HAT for Raspberry Pi
This new HAT from Adafruit adds the Ultimate GPS, allowing accurate time and position for Raspberry Pi Models Pi 3, Pi Zero, A+, B+, or Pi 2, 3, & 4.
Features of the GPS module:
- Sensitivity -165 dBm, 10 Hz updates, 66 channels
- Power consumption only 20mA
- Built-in Real Time Clock (RTC) - battery slot for CR1220 battery for 7 years or more of timekeeping even if the Raspberry Pi is powered off
- PPS output during fix, connected by default to the stationary pin #4
- Internal patch antenna that works well outdoors + u.FL connector for external active antennas when used indoors or in locations without a clear view of the sky
- Fix status LED that blinks when the GPS determines the current coordinates
Includes integrated GPS + PCB and additional 2x20 GPIO header. Light soldering is required to attach the 2x20 GPIO header to the HAT, a quick and easy process for anyone with a soldering iron. Notably, this HAT occupies the Raspberry Pi's UART hardware for data transmission/reception from the GPS module. If the RX/TX pins need to be used with a console cable, this HAT cannot be used simultaneously. Instead, use a composite or HDMI monitor with keyboard for input or connect via ssh to the Pi's network.
Dimensions with components: 65mm x 56mm x 7mm / 2.6" x 2.2" x 0.3". Datasheets, EagleCAD PCB files, and Fritzing objects are available in the product tutorial.
