I am a runner, 1.85m tall, 74kg, with a neutral stride and 5/7 workouts per week, with times of 3:18 (now) in the marathon and 1:28 in the half. I was looking for a shoe for tempo workouts (4'20-4'40) plus anything else it could give me. I should note that the Speed 3 was my first love, with 2 pairs worn out when I started running "a bit more seriously"... I tried the 4s but they seemed lower and mainly narrower, for my relatively wide foot, so I skipped them. I decided to return to the series with the 5th version and I did very well! Bought at €150 from the Italian. The shoe is amazing! First of all, all insoles fit, I got my usual size 46, as with all the company's shoes so far (Speed 3, Ride 17, Pro 4). Top feature is the incredible energy return (70% according to the reputable cut in half)!! The shoe is lower than the 3, like the 4 it has enough material in between but you also get ground feel, especially if you have a dynamic stride like me, but it became a bit softer than the 4th version. It's not as soft as the 3. I emphasize this!! I would rank it between the previous 2 models of the company. In terms of stride, closer to the 4, in fit it tends towards the 3. It reminds me a lot of the E Pro4, which I also have. You can also wear it relaxed and for easy runs. It is super light, and the fit at the midfoot is precise as it hugs the foot perfectly, with ideal ankle lock for me. The foot remains very stable during training. I have done 200km on various terrains and the sole remains in excellent condition (I have a neutral stride). The grip is not wow, but it's ok. I tried it in intervals below 4'00, many tempos (4'20-4'40) and LR and easy at 5'00-5'15. Only a bit in the long runs it bothered me because after 1.5 hours I wanted more support! I highly recommend it though, especially now that I see its price has dropped even more to around €130 and I'm thinking of trying it in a 10k or half race!!
Update 350km: the shoe remains amazing for intervals and tempo!! It hasn't lost any energy return and also has no wear, while the Speed 3s, for example, showed wear early on the sole. Recommended 1000%.
2nd Update (500+ km): the energy return remains the same, super light, I wear it in intervals below 4'00 and in tempo 4'10-4'20 and it's super.
Now I'm sure, I consider it superior to the more "racing" EPro 4, which I also have and is more absolute in stride... the Speed is friendlier, smoother in stride and definitely more durable! I would buy it again without hesitation!
Είμαι δρομέας, με ύψος 1.85, 74 κιλά, με κανονικά πάτημα και 5/7 προπονήσεις/βδομάδα, με χρόνους 3:18 (πλέον) σε μαραθώνιο και 1:28 σε ημί. Έψαχνα παπούτσι γιά tempo προπονήσεις (4'20-4'40) συν οτι αλλο μπορει να μου έδινε. Σημειωνω ότι τα speed 3 ήταν η πρωτη μου αγαπη, με 2 ζευγαρια λιωμένα οταν ξεκινησα να τρεχω "λιγο πιο σοβαρά".. τα 4 τα δοκιμασα αλλα μου φανηκαν, πιο χαμηλά και κυριως μακρόστενα, για το σχετικα φαρδυ μου πόδι, οποτε τα προσπέρασα. Ειπα να ξαναγυρισω στη σειρα με την 5η έκδοση και επραξα πολυ σωστά! Αγορά στα 150€ απτον ιταλό. Το παπουτσι ειναι εκπληκτικό! Καταρχην χωρανε ολα τα πέλματα, πηρα το κανονικο μου Νο 46, οπως σε ολα της εταιρειας ως τώρα (speed 3, ride 17, pro 4). Κορυφαίο χαρακτηριστικό η απίστευτη ανταπόδοση ενέργειας (70% βασει του εγκριτου cut in half)!! Το παπουτσι ειναι πιο χαμηλό απτο 3ρι, σαν το 4ρι έχει αρκετο υλικό ενδιάμεσα αλλά εχετε και ground feel, ειδικά αν εχετε δυναμικο πατημα σαν εμένα, αλλά εγινε ενα κλικ πιο μαλακό απτην 4η εκδοση. Δεν ειναι πολυ μαλακό οπως το 3. Το τονίζω!! Θα το κατέτασα μεταξυ των 2 προηγ.μοντέλων της εταιρείας. Σα πατημα πιο κοντά στο 4, σαν εφαρμογή τεινει στο 3. Μου θυμίζει πάρα πολύ το E Pro4, που επίσης εχω. Το φοράτε χαλαρα και σε easy runs. Είναι πανάλαφρο, ενώ η εφαρμογη και στο midfoot ειναι ακριβής καθως αγκαλιαζει τελεια το πόδι, με ιδανικο για μένα κλειδωμα του αστραγάλου. Το ποδι παραμένει σταθερότατο κατά την προπόνηση. Εχω κανει 200 χλμ σε διάφορα τερέν και η σόλα παραμένει σε εξαιρετικη κατάσταση (έχω κανονικό πάτημα). Το grip δεν ειναι wow, αλλά ειναι οκ. Το δοκίμασα σε διαλ/κη κάτω απο 4'00, πολλα tempo (4'20-4'40) και LR και easy στο 5'00-5'15. Μονο λιγο στα long με χαλασε γιατι ηθελα μετα τη 1.5 ωρα πιο πολλή υποστήριξη! Το συστήνω ανεπιφυλακτα πάντως, ειδικά τωρα που βλέπω επεσε κ άλλο η τιμη του κοντά στα 130€ και σκέφτομαι να το δοκιμάσω και σε καποιον αγώνα 10ρι ή ημι!!
Update 350 χλμ: το παπούτσι παραμένει εκπληκτικό για διαλ/κες κ tempo!! Δεν εχει χάσει καθολου σε επιστροφή ενέργειας κ επισης δεν εχει φθορα, ενω τα speed 3 ας πουμε μου εμφανιζαν φθορες, νωρις στη σόλα. Προτεινεται 1000%.
2o Update (500+ χλμ): η ανταπόδοση παραμένει ίδια, πανάλαφρο το φοράω σε διαλ/κες κατω απτο 4'00 κ σε τεμπο 4'10-4'20 κ ειναι σουπερ.
Πλέον ειμαι σιγουρος, το θεωρώ ανωτερο απτο πιο "αγωνιστικό" ΕPro 4, που επισης έχω κ ειναι πιο απολυτο σα πάτημα..το Speed ειναι πιο φιλικό, πιο smooth στο πάτημα κ με μεγαλυτερη ζωή σιγουρα! Το ξανάπαιρνα ανετα!
