The year 1878—the 11th year of the Meiji era in Japan, and more than ten years since the samurai were deprived of their privileges and swords were banned on public streets. A mysterious flyer appears in every corner of the country, attracting those skilled in martial arts to Kyoto with the promise of wealth beyond ordinary imagination.
