The history of ELAS Attica remains almost unknown. Only occasionally do we encounter in the historiography of the Resistance the 34th Attic-Boetian Regiment and the Arvanitic guerrillas (I/34 Battalion) of Parnitha, usually as secondary or supplementary elements of a saga written elsewhere, hundreds of kilometers away from the capital.

However, if the head was in Athens (the headquarters of the KKE machinery), the backbone in Central Greece, and the extremities throughout the country, for the Resistance, Parnitha was the indispensable nervous system.
