The plant features large, round leaves with brown spots and stripes, and is recommended for larger aquariums. Depending on the leaf coloration, it is often distinguished into the variations "Red Lotus" and "Green Tiger Lotus".
It has no special requirements but should be planted in an open, well-lit area, as its growth may slow down under low light conditions.
It tends to develop leaves with long stems, which can float on the water surface, thus blocking the light. To prevent this, the long leaves should be removed as soon as possible. If the plant is allowed to develop floating leaves, its beautiful white flowers are likely to appear, which are open from evening until late morning.
