Optimized Design for Quiet Operation & ModuVent™ Technology

The Fractal Design Define R5 has been designed from the ground up with the goal of maximum noise suppression, incorporating special high-density sound-dampening material in strategic areas of the chassis. At the same time, it features the innovative tool-less removable ModuVent™ covers, allowing the user to choose between absolute sound insulation or the addition of extra fans for increased airflow. This combination ensures an exceptionally quiet work or gaming environment without sacrificing the cooling performance of the components.

Extended Water Cooling Support & Advanced Airflow

Despite its compact size, the Define R5 offers impressive cooling capabilities, supporting large water-cooling radiators up to 420mm at the top and up to 360mm at the front. The package includes two quiet 140mm Fractal Design Dynamic GP-14 fans, specially designed for high airflow with minimal noise. In addition, the front features an integrated three-speed fan controller that supports up to three fans, providing direct control over temperature and noise.

Fully Customizable Internal Storage Space

The internal layout of the Define R5 offers top-level flexibility, allowing the case to be customized to your own needs. It features metal HDD trays that accommodate up to 8 3.5"/2.5" drives with anti-vibration properties, as well as two dedicated SSD mounts behind the motherboard tray. The hard drive and optical drive (ODD) cages can be removed or fully repositioned, freeing up valuable space for improved airflow, installation of liquid cooling pumps, or fitting extra-long graphics cards.

Easy Access, Quick Release System & Smart Dust Filters

Ease of use and maintenance is a key pillar of the Define R5’s design. It features an innovative Quick Release system on the left side panel for secure fastening and instant access to the inside of the computer without tools. The dual side front door can be adjusted to open either to the left or to the right, depending on your desk setup. Finally, the accessible dust filters at the front and bottom keep the system interior perfectly clean, ensuring long-lasting performance for your components.

  • Recently purchased to replace the beautiful, silent, and expensive almost 10-year-old Aerocool ds200, whose soft plastics deteriorated within a few years and honestly, I couldn't stand looking at it anymore. Now I realize I should have gone with Fractal Design from the start. Absolutely minimal and sturdy construction, aluminum and hard quality plastics. Inside it has everything, you would have to search a lot to find something missing or a flaw. My first case with removable air filters that can be washed. The internal temperatures are even lower than those of the Aerocool (also with 2 fans in the chassis) and noise even during gaming is zero.

We are talking about an amazing case, incredibly high quality. Sturdy, with plenty of space, excellent fans, and generally no disadvantages.
Clearly, this is not a case for the average user, getting it means you are going for a home/lab server or NAS.
I chose it for this reason, easily fitting 8-10 hard drives and having very good airflow.
For this price, there is no competitor, for example, the Node 804 will give you a hard time with cabling and space management. This one does not.

Scandinavian box with everything, an extremely sturdy and strictly minimalist construction, acoustically completely "dead", more "dead" you can't get!

In terms of design, it's classic Swedish, minimalistic. Ample spaces, to the point that if its capabilities are properly utilized, you could easily fit a second PC inside.

Its connectivity is extremely practical, simple, and clever, just like its internal configuration, which is exemplary and modular, of course, so that everyone can modify it according to their needs.

The front door on the front of the case is a very clever design. Although it looks like plastic, it resembles worn aluminum painted with anodization, their ingenuity is commendable.

Behind the front door, as well as the entire bottom of the case, there are ventilation ducts with huge filters, washable for better air filtration. If necessary, the upper horizontal side of the case can also be converted into a fully or partially ventilated duct, as I said, modular. However, if someone decides to partially or completely remove the three plastic external covers of the upper horizontal side of the case, either for air cooling or simply for ventilation, because the holes in the grilles under the case covers literally hold nothing, it would be a good idea to look for a good custom screen to prevent the entire Jurassic Park from ending up inside the case. So, it goes and gets the excellent and specially designed filters from DEMCiflex for this case, and everything is fine.

Behind the front door on the front, on the upper part, although it seems like it can accommodate an internal optical medium, I think it's better not to use anything there, but to install an external unit with USB and secure the entire vertical frame located on the front mainly for disk placement, so that the interior of the case can breathe even better, providing greater possibilities for hardware expansion for even better performance in demanding software.

It goes without saying that up to three liquid cooling fans can be installed in the position of the front vertical frame, as well as on the upper horizontal side of the case, primarily for those who need it and secondarily for those who find it convenient. The factory-installed front fans are 140mm.

Therefore, the conclusion is that although not cheap, it is still a top-notch purchase based on quality, space, usability, design, and the dead silence that the case offers, from a very serious manufacturer, admittedly.

Extremely high quality, quiet, minimal (a matter of taste always) infinite space for infinite arrangements, perhaps a bit expensive in general, but it has such a timeless design that I believe it will cover you for years, at first glance it reminds you of an expensive amplifier from the 90s with chrome legs and the blue power LED

After a month of use, there are times when I look next to me to see if the computer is closed.

The cable management is done with plenty of comfort, temperatures even after hours of gaming do not exceed 43C (air cooling) in a room without air conditioning.

For anyone looking for a silent case, this is it.
    It's awesome!

At this price, you get a case similar to those that are 50 euros more expensive. Ergonomic space, incredible cable management, quiet, with two 140mm fans, all the screws included and more.
