Description

“I’ve tried EVERYTHING!” New parents feel despair in front of their children's exaggerations. They tend to interpret their excessive or annoying behaviors as stubbornness, bad character, or cheekiness.

Other parents feel guilty about these behaviors and look for the traumas of their children. But what if the reasons are different?

Recent research in neurophysiology and experimental psychology sheds new light on these desperate behaviors. Sketches that resonate with everyone, scientific truths for better understanding, and new guidelines for specific actions depending on the child's age.

Are you ready to question specific habits, beliefs, and even certainties?

This book is for you if...

  • You have a child aged 1–5 years
  • You often face tantrums, stubbornness, anger, and “inexplicable” behavior
  • You feel exhausted and ready to shout
  • You want to learn how to set boundaries without yelling, threats, or guilt

What will this book offer you?

A clear approach to tantrums, based on the development of the child's brain and their emotional stages. With practical examples, images, and short texts, you will understand how to calmly handle difficult moments and teach your child how to self-regulate.

Inside the book you will find:

  • What happens in the child's brain during a crisis
  • How to distinguish real pain from manipulation
  • Techniques for preventing and managing outbursts
  • Visual diagrams & comic-style scenes from everyday life
  • Useful tips for routine, transitions, and boundaries

The opinion of the experts

“One of the friendliest and most effective books on raising preschool children. Without ‘blame’, full of tools.”
– Parenting Science
“Filliozat achieves the impossible: she makes you feel like a good parent, even in the midst of chaos.”
– Le Monde

Read an excerpt

“A child's reaction is not an attack – it is a message. When you can listen to it, you can also calm it.”
“Your child is not provoking you. They need you. Not to impose yourself, but to accompany them through their own storm.”

I was swayed by the reviews, I really wonder what I expected from such a book... Superficial, it rushes through the early ages of children mentioning 1 or 2 problematic situations at each age, giving general and vague advice. Completely arbitrarily, the author is sure about how children think even the very young ones and easily puts herself in their shoes, drawing absolute and superficial conclusions. Disappointment, at some point I gave up...

It is an easy-to-read book, with examples and solutions - ideas, questions, and thoughts that I believe every parent has in mind and presents them with simplicity and clarity. I would recommend it to new parents who place importance on the upbringing of their children and perhaps give a little more attention to our behavior.

It helped me so much in "unlocking" some behaviors of the child that otherwise I would consider excessive, manipulative, malicious, which are essentially normal... As others say, all parents should read it, I would even say it should be given to parents at the maternity ward! Easy to read, it can be read in a few hours, with simple images and examples that stick with you. It helps you think a little before you act or say something...

Really a good "guide" for new parents! Easy to read with simple everyday examples and divided into chapters by age, so you don't have to read it all at once or if you're looking for something specific, you can go back to the chapter of the age that interests you. I think all parents should read it!
