My computers recognized it as a genuine Lite-On drive, specifically an OEM PLDS (Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions) DH-16ACSH, manufactured by Lite-ON. It also bears the hp (Hewlett-Packard) logo since it is an OEM, meaning it is a drive made for this company. Most importantly, in the CD-R tests I ran, it showed very good results with the discs it ripped and burned. For its price and the results I got, I highly recommend it.

    P.S. I forgot to mention something important. This drive uses a MediaTek chipset, which is highly regarded by the audiophile community for its quality when it comes to archiving files.
