20 g package containing the seed of the cardamom plant. Other names: Cruciferous, Wild Rocket, River Rocket, Water Cardamom, Cardamura, Cardamyda, Cardamino, Wild Cardamom, Nastourio the medicinal, Tzourkas, Tragia, Cardamomo and Kakoule.

Historical information: Cardamom has been known since ancient times as a medicinal plant and food. The ancient Greeks and Romans valued it for its therapeutic properties, and it is mentioned in Hippocrates' writings as a remedy for various ailments. It was used in ancient Egypt as a blood purifier and to improve vision.

Properties:

• Detoxifying: Helps cleanse the blood.
• Anti-rheumatic action: Reduces inflammation and pain associated with rheumatic diseases.
• Rich in vitamins and minerals: Contains iron, calcium, and iodine.
• Aphrodisiac effect: Enhances sexual desire.

Usage: 1 teaspoon of crushed cardamom is added to 1 glass of water, boiled for 5 – 10 minutes, strained and consumed. It is used in cooking in recipes with meat, fish, vegetable soups, chicken, and salads. It is also used in the preparation of sweet breads and combined with Chios mastic.
