Morphology and History: Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis) is an evergreen plant with dark green, leathery leaves and a strong aroma. It was a sacred plant in ancient Greece, associated with deities such as Aphrodite and Apollo.

Properties:

  • Improves digestion: May help reduce gas and colic.
  • Soothing action: Ideal for calming before sleep.
  • Smooth menstrual flow: Facilitates menstruation and reduces symptoms of dysmenorrhea.
  • Pain relief: May relieve rheumatism and arthritis through washes.
  • Hair strengthening: Bay oil enhances hair growth and reduces dandruff.

Usage: 1 tablespoon of crushed bay leaves (or 3-4 leaves) is steeped with 1 glass of boiling water and left covered for 10-15 minutes.
