9 Years of Shadows for Nintendo Switch is a side-scrolling Metroidvania adventure in which the warrior Europa enters the mechanical giant Talos to stop the corruption and restore color to the world. As she explores its interconnected areas, she faces creatures and powerful foes while uncovering secrets and new paths.

Europa wields a halberd and switches between elemental fire, water, earth, and air armor. Along the way, she is aided by APINO, a floating bear with magical abilities who provides protection and special attacks. Music, featuring a 432 Hz soundtrack, is woven into the game: collecting musical notes allows Europa to sing and heal.
