Soutzoukloukoum is a traditional sweet, widely produced in Komotini. It is distinguished by its softness and sweet taste, enriched with walnut and coated with sesame.

Its preparation process is unique and includes:

• Whole walnuts are threaded one by one onto a string.
• A mixture of water and sugar is ground and dipped into a cauldron.
• The strings with the walnuts are hung on poles to cool and set the mixture.
• The caramelized, amber color of the loukoum is sprinkled with sesame.
