Soutzoukloukoum is a traditional sweet widely produced in Komotini. It is characterized by:

• Soft and smooth texture
• Sweet taste
• Fragrant aroma with walnut
• Coconut coating added at the end

The preparation process is complex and requires attention. Whole walnuts are threaded onto string one by one. Then, the mixture of water and sugar is ground and the strings with the walnuts are dipped into the cauldron. Afterwards, they are hung on poles to cool and set the mixture. Finally, the amber color of the loukoumi decorates the coconut, with which each of the elongated loukoumia is sprinkled one by one.
