One of the best laptop purchases I have ever made
I bought this HP OmniBook 7 AI 17 from Currys in the United Kingdom for just £594, with free delivery within a few hours. At today’s exchange rate that is roughly €700, a price I consider a real bargain for what this model offers. In the Greek market it usually costs noticeably more, although of course in Greece I see that the storage capacity is 1TB.
Before proceeding with the purchase, I had read dozens of reviews and compared many models from HP, ASUS, Acer, Lenovo and Huawei. I already own several computers (HP EliteBook, Huawei MateBook X Pro, Huawei D14, Huawei D15, Microsoft Surface Pro and two business HP desktops), so I have enough experience to compare objectively.
The first thing that impressed me was the build quality.
Although this is a 17.3-inch laptop, it is surprisingly thin, elegant and light for its size. In photos it looks bigger than it actually is. In the hand it feels more like a premium ultrabook than a classic 17-inch portable.
The screen is its biggest advantage
I spend many hours every day reading, writing books, research articles and attending video conferences.
In recent years I had found that 14-inch screens were starting to strain my eyes.
The 17.3-inch screen of this OmniBook completely changed my work experience.
It is comfortable, bright, with very beautiful colors and excellent sharpness. For office work, Office, browsing, Teams, Zoom and also watching videos, it is truly enjoyable.
I do not plan to easily go back to a smaller screen anymore.
    Performance
The Intel Core Ultra 5 combined with 16GB RAM makes the system extremely fast.
Windows, Office, Chrome with dozens of tabs, Teams, Adobe Acrobat and many applications running at the same time all work perfectly without any lag.
For professional use it is a real tool.
    Keyboard
The feel of the keys is much better than I expected.
Typing is fast, comfortable and particularly accurate.
The backlit keyboard works flawlessly and is very useful when working at night or in low-light environments.
My biggest concern before the purchase...
The only thing that worried me was the Enter key.
For many years I have used exclusively keyboards with the classic large British Enter in an "L" shape. When I saw that this model uses the horizontal Enter, I even thought about canceling the order.
In the end it turned out I was worrying for no reason.
Within one day I had already fully adapted.
Today I do not even notice it.
When the rest of the laptop is this good, this issue stops mattering in any meaningful way.
The camera is a real surprise
The 5MP Poly Camera Pro is perhaps the best webcam I have used on a laptop.
The image is clear, bright and professional.
Because I often take part in TV interviews, university lectures and professional video conferences, the camera quality was a very pleasant surprise.
    Sound
The speakers are also better than I expected.
They do not replace a good external system or headphones, of course, but for everyday use they perform excellently.
    Storage
The model I bought has a 512GB SSD.
At first I thought I might have preferred 1TB.
In practice, however, almost all my files are in the cloud, so 512GB is more than enough for Windows, applications and my daily work.
    Conclusion
I rarely get this excited about a technology purchase.
This HP immediately became my favorite laptop, even though I already own several high-end portable computers.
It combines a large and comfortable screen, excellent build quality, very fast performance, a top-tier camera, beautiful design and a premium feel.
For the £594 I paid in England, I consider it a real bargain and a purchase I would make again without a second thought.
I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a large, reliable and high-quality laptop for work, university use, professional video conferencing or even entertainment.
I have not received any payment, discount or other compensation for this review. My opinion is based solely on my personal experience using the product.
