Description

A comprehensive set of three books providing all the information you need to prepare for and hike the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), a 2,650-mile route that crosses California, Oregon, and Washington. The set is designed to be compact and lightweight, divided into three books: an introductory guide (130g) and two mapping books (200g and 170g). The introductory guide covers all the preparation required to hike the PCT:
  • Detailed explanation of the trail's structure, scheduling, and approach to the PCT.
  • Suggested itineraries for 110-, 120-, 130-, and 140-day trips, along with an easy initial option for planning convenience.
  • Tips on equipment and permits needed on the trail.
  • An overview of the trail's history.
  • Exploration of the fauna and flora encountered along the trail.
The two mapping books are designed for use on the trail, with one covering southern stops from the Mexican border to northern California and the other covering northern stops in Oregon and Washington up to the Canadian border. They are presented in 100 stages of 1-3 days for easy planning of daily, sectional, or full-route hikes:
  • Where possible, stages start/end at trail entrances for easy access.
  • Topographic maps at 1:100,000 scale for the entire trail, which can be used to supplement or replace digital mapping applications.
  • Each stage includes route descriptions with distances in kilometers, cartographic information, profiles, and locations of water sources and campsites.
  • Update tables include details on where food, mail drops, and laundry services are available near the trail.
An important aspect is that for every copy of Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail sold, Cicerone will donate $1.50 to the PCTA. Pages: 424, Dimensions: 12.4x12.4cm
