Description

In the strange village of Denakoui, the inhabitants have tiny ears and huge mouths. No one cares to listen to their neighbor. However, everyone's need to be heard is irresistible. The exception is Akoui. Unlike his fellow villagers, he is "all ears," while his mouth is tiny, almost nonexistent!

The egocentric villagers absolutely need him. He is the only one who can listen to them. What will happen when one day Akoui falls ill? What will happen when the Denakouites cannot find ears to be heard?

A story about today's world, where people don't care to listen but only to be heard…. How different would our world be if we listened to our neighbor? How different would our world be if we used our ears more and our mouths less?

“I Don’t Hear” is a truly thoughtful and engaging children’s book. Its purpose is clear, and pedagogically it succeeds beautifully. The story offers meaningful lessons about truly listening to others and showing empathy values that are essential at every stage of childhood.

Personally, I believe this book can be enjoyed and understood from kindergarten through the elementary years. It speaks to the developmental needs of each age, inviting young readers to reflect on the importance of paying attention to other people's feelings and perspectives.

Overall, “I Don’t Hear” is not just enjoyable; it is also a valuable tool in helping children learn how to listen and empathize. It is a book I would warmly recommend for both home and classroom libraries.
