I received it 3 days ago, so I don't know what problems it might present in the future. As a first impression, I find it excellent.
The screen is fantastic, even though it’s not IPS. It has perfect colors, very good brightness, and with the 144Hz it supports, it is extremely smooth.
It doesn’t have a pre-installed operating system and that’s an advantage for me, because it doesn’t add cost to the price and gives me the option to install whatever I want. Attention: Asus officially provides drivers only for Windows 11. I installed Windows 10 LTSC and it took a bit more searching for the Wi-Fi and USB controller to work properly.
In terms of performance, it excels in everything I’ve tried so far. The Ryzen is a beast, doesn’t even break a sweat and stays cool even in the summer, with 35°C outside, while its fans are practically silent.
I haven’t tried games yet, but I’m sure the RTX 4050 with 6GB will do just fine.
I hadn’t paid attention to the sound, but I found out that even the humble Realtek has very clear and loud sound.
In research I did before buying it, I saw that it has very good expandability, with an additional NVMe slot and 2 DDR5 SODIMM slots. It probably has 2x8GB, which means that to add memory in the future, I’ll have to replace them with larger ones, but the important thing is that they are not soldered onto the motherboard. Asus says it supports up to 32GB, but the Ryzen controller supports up to 64GB, so it will probably work.
As for build quality, it looks very good and sturdy, not cheap.
