How it works: The binoculars contain two simple telescopes placed side by side. Light rays from the object enter the large lens, where its convex shape bends them towards each other. The rays then pass through the smaller lens, whose concave shape disperses them before entering the eye. This magnifies the object, making it appear larger than it actually is.
