“All that I experienced firsthand during my service in NATO (2000-2004), which I detailed in my related book [The Perfect Storm, Metaichmio 2017], had an immediate negative impact on the daily lives of hundreds of millions of people.

At the time, I never imagined that nearly 5 years later I would witness the same phenomenon again up close, this time ruthlessly hitting our country. It was Greece’s Perfect Storm. The governments of that era, like the previous ones, were complacent and enjoyed the calm and summer weather before the storm that would sweep through Greece and change the entire political-economic-social landscape for over a decade. Unfortunately, as in the case of the international Perfect Storm, little and slowly changed in the mindset of those in power, politicians, and consequently ordinary people, with familiar phenomena that are still recurring today.

In this book, I recount the events of Greece’s perfect storm that I experienced during my terms at the European Union (2004-2009), in Washington (2009-2012), and as General Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012-2013).”
