Description

The bulb is sold loose, per piece.

This bulbous plant has green, very narrow leaves, similar to those of onions. It blooms earlier than other bulbous plants, from January to May, with a flowering duration of 3-4 weeks. Its flowers are small, bell-shaped, and yellow.

The bulbs are planted in autumn, at a depth of about one and a half times their size, in light, fertile, well-drained, neutral, or acidic soils, even within grass. They prefer sunny and semi-shaded locations and are resistant to very low temperatures.

The overripe flowers are always removed, while the leaves must remain for at least 6 weeks to allow better formation of the bulbs. They are cultivated in flower beds, rock gardens, and pots, and their flowers are also used as cut flowers. They are propagated by in autumn.
