The amaryllis is a bulbous plant planted in spring, which can reach a height of 50 cm. Each package contains one bulb.
The impressive, bright flowers of the amaryllis open on their long stems and catch the eye. The bulbs require special planting conditions:
- Choose a container with drainage holes, only 3-5 centimeters larger than the bulb size.
- Use suitable soil, consisting of equal parts clayey fertile garden soil, peat, and perlite or sand.
- Plant the bulb so that one third of it is above the soil.
- It should be watered well after planting and placed in a warm and sunny spot.
The bulbs need to remain in their container for 6 to 12 weeks before the desired flowering date. The amaryllis can be planted in the garden or in pots and window boxes.
For planting in pots, the addition of a compressed coconut fiber block and perlite at the bottom is required for excellent drainage.
