A sheet of gold is placed over the object, and with a hammer, the artist joins the two metals. Then, the work is exposed to high heat, causing the gold to shine.

This technique was perfected in the city of Toledo, Spain. Since 1931, Pelikan has produced writing instruments with Toledo decoration, which remain popular in its collection.

Today, the decorated part of the body is made from a single piece, maintaining the tradition and quality of the technique.
