The bulb is sold loose, per piece.

This bulbous plant has green, very narrow leaves, similar to those of onions. It blooms earlier than other bulbous plants, from January to May, and the flowering lasts 3-4 weeks. Its flowers are small, funnel-shaped, and yellow.

The bulbs are planted in autumn, at a depth of about one and a half times their size, in light, fertile, well-drained, neutral or acidic soils, even within grass. It prefers sunny and semi-shaded locations, while also tolerating very low temperatures. Overripe flowers are always removed, and the leaves are left for at least 6 weeks to help the bulbs develop better.

They are cultivated in flower beds, rock gardens, and pots, while their flowers are also used as cut flowers. They propagate by dividing the bulbs in autumn.
