Description

Description

In the book Talking about God, the search of humanity for something sacred, for God, is presented. As Krishnamurti states in an excerpt from one of his speeches, “Sometimes you feel that your life is mechanical, and other times – when there is sorrow and confusion – you return to faith and turn to a supreme being for guidance and help.”

Krishnamurti explores the futility of seeking knowledge of the “unknown” and shows us that only when we stop searching with our minds, with logic, can we be “radically free” to experience Reality, Truth, and what is Sacred. He presents the “religious” person as something different from the “devout,” as someone who directly perceives the sacred and not as if clinging to some religious belief.

A characteristic description he makes in his diary, indirectly and poetically conveying his own sense of the sacred, is: “The reflection of the sunset was a dazzling explosion, just like the sunset itself; around the setting sun, a few clouds gathered with purity; it was a fire without smoke that would never go out. The vastness of this ‘fire’ and its intensity penetrated everything and sank into the earth. The earth was the sky and the sky was the earth. Everything was alive and overflowing with color, and the color was God, not the God of humans.”

EXPLICIT STATEMENT BY KRISHNAMURTI BEFORE HIS DEATH IN 1986 There is no successor or representative of mine who will continue the teaching, now or at any time in the future, in my name... No interpreters are needed... Every person should observe directly their own activities and not through some theory or authority...
