An investigation into the Holy Grail and the heritage of the Cathars

This is the journey of Otto Rhan, an occultist and former SS member, who sought the Holy Grail and traveled extensively across Europe as a researcher until his mysterious death in 1939.

It explores the modern legacy of the officially heretical Christian sect known as the Cathars. It follows his own research into the location of the Grail and Rhan's heritage, guiding readers on a journey through the esoteric Europe.

Following closely the controversial 20th-century occultist, historian, and partially Jewish SS member Otto Rhan, author and director Richard Stanley enters the mystical world of Europe. During his quest, the author encounters internal traditions that survived the Crusades and the Inquisition, ultimately finding a new spiritual path in his life.

At the Rhan family home in the Black Forest, Stanley discovers a collection of maps, photographs, and unpublished manuscripts. His journey to uncover Rhan’s heritage leads him to Montalègre in southern France, a mysterious walled location and former stronghold of the Cathars, the internal and gnostic Christian sect nearly destroyed during the Albigensian Crusade. There, he observes the extraordinary phenomenon of light during the summer solstice that reveals the mystical past of the fortress and meets witnesses who insist that Rhan is still alive.

Methodically visiting each site along Otto Rhan’s esoteric path, the author disentangles legend from truth while examining the connections between the Cathars, the Rosicrucians, Julius Evola, the neo-Cathar, and the Mason Deont Roscé, as well as the secret bleeding stones known as Lapist exillīs. He also considers the prophecy of Esclarmonde de Foua, the White Lady, a medieval priestess of the Cathars, who appeared to Rhan during his search for the Grail.
