Kazuo Ibamura was born in Tokyo in 1939. He studied art and design and began his career as a graphic designer for the children’s programs of NHK, the Japanese television network. He also worked as a designer for a cosmetics company before deciding to become a children’s book author and illustrator. He has published dozens of titles in Japan and worldwide. Among the most beloved are the books about the daily adventures of the mouse family – books about the warm, bright, and loving universe of childhood and family life.
