The Dead Cells: The Rogue-Lite board game is a cooperative dungeon-crawling game featuring rogue-lite elements and inspired by the Metroidvania genre. Players explore an ever-changing island with a castle, choose their paths, and face enemies in battles that unfold over three phases. When a character dies, the Cells they have collected remain available to purchase permanent mutations.

Players choose one of four Beheaded characters, each with unique powers and their own action card deck. While exploring, they can upgrade their powers, acquire weapons and equipment, find runes that open new paths, and unlock new biomes. Permanent mutations strengthen their decks and items, while previously explored areas change, featuring stronger enemies and new items.
